Ten percent of homes in California have a wildfire designation of moderate to extreme risk. This course is intended to assist in identifying your community’s fire risk based on the building science to fire propagation and damage to structures. The latest Chapter 7A building code requirements are discussed for exterior protection of structures and fire code vegetation management requirements intended to mitigate fire damage. This course also covers building department response strategies for plan reviewers, inspectors and counter staff that have been utilized in recent fires to assist in the assessment and rebuilding process.
