This webinar is designed for entry level permit technicians, but can serve as a refresher for experienced permit technicians who are seeking to better understand and elevate their building department knowledge and skills to grow their careers. An overview of code development, state laws and the granting of authority are discussed to give context for the role of building departments in California communities. Attendees gain an in-depth understanding of their work and role as permit technicians, including tasks and duties required, to better assist customers and building department colleagues. A special guest lecture by Susan Dowty, ICC Government Relations Manager, summarizes professional support that is available to assist permit technicians with improving their work performance and prepare for a long-term career in California building departments. Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with questions about their role as Permit Technicians and expanding their careers in Building-Safety.
