The 2025-26 Building Officials Leadership Academy (BOLA) will be held from Monday, May 5 - Friday, May 9, 2025 in Costa Mesa.

Seeking to maximize the leadership capabilities of seasoned public safety professionals and those seeking a future within California’s building departments, BOLA provides executive-level coursework along with networking opportunities among program peers and mentors to allow each participant the opportunity to utilize the program to its full potential.

The BOLA core curriculum consists of five training days in Costa Mesa. In addition, all BOLA participants must complete three elective courses offered at the CALBO Education Weeks (either North or South). After completing all BOLA requirements, each participant will be recognized and honored at a CALBO Education Week.

How to submit an application?

Step 1. Read the Registration Packet.

Step 2. Complete the Fillable PDF Application Form on page 8.

Step 3. Sign the Fillable PDF Participation Form (including your supervisor) on page 7.

Step 4. Email the two completed forms, your PDF resume, and a PDF statement of interest to Anne Jungwirth no later than Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 5pm for the first round of application reviews. After that date, applications will be reviewed based on availability.

Step 5. Applicants will be notified after the deadline. The academy is limited to 21 students.*
